Zone Resources Inc. has assembled an extensive property portfolio in the Labrador Trough, a world-class iron ore district. The properties, located in Nunavik (Northern Quebec) are in proximity to major iron projects.
- 41,500 hectares of property: The four major properties are Girard, Red Knob Hill, Bob Lake and Moore-Ross.
- Major players: The properties are adjacent to Adriana Resources' Lac Otelnuk Project and New Millennium's Kemag and Labmag projects. Tata Steel recently signed an option agreement with New Millennium for a $4.9 Billion development which includes the production of a 750km slurry pipeline.
- Strong historic results: Highlight of the Historical drilling on Moore-Ross shows a significant hole bearing *42.9% iron over 197 feet. Over 37 drill holes, the primary iron mineral is hematite and iron grades ranged from 17.25% to 44.8%.
- Quebec: One of the most mining friendly provinces in the world. Furthermore, the provincial Quebec government recently announced an $80 Billion infrastructure and investment plan for the northern part of the province (Plan Nord).
With properties not subjected to modern exploration techniques, Zone Resources is aiming to design a program that will corroborate the historical results and determine future drill targets.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The four Zone Resources Inc properties comprise a total of 892 claims covering 100,000 acres (40,400 hectares). The four blocks are as follows:
- Moore-Ross Mountain Property: 153 claims, 6,900 hectares
- Girard Lake Property: 573 claims, 26,000 hectares
- Red Knob Hill Property: 20 claims, 900 hectares
- Bob Lake Property: 146 claims, 6,600 hectares

EXPLORATION OVERVIEW
The properties are located 120 kilometres southwest of the town of Kuujjuaq (formerly Fort Chimo), on the estuary of the Koksoak River, 50 kilometres upstream from Ungava Bay. Kuujjuaq is accessible by barge services, and its airport has daily flights to and from Montreal. The properties are between 280 and 370 kilometres north-northwest from Schefferville, at the end of the rail line from Sept-Iles. The Schefferville railway line is owned and operated by Tshiuetin Rail Transportation and is the only native-owned railway in Canada. It links with the QNS&L line from Wabush to Sept-Iles. Regular freight and passenger trains serve Schefferville.
The 1951 exploration program on the Moore-Ross Mountain property was supplied by boat from Kuujjuaq via the Koksoak River, so it can be assumed that this river is navigable by small boats. For modern exploration programs, it is advisable to use fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, but the use of the river to bring in fuel for future drill programs should be carefully investigated.
On the Moore-Ross Mountain property, previous work has partially delineated three zones of taconite with local pockets of iron enrichment, all of which have the potential to develop into substantial deposits. These are the Moore-Moore Extension, the Star and the Partington.
On the Girard Lake property, the McDonald and Ball No. 1 are also partially delineated zones with significant tonnage potential, although the historical data are less complete on this property.
An examination of government airborne magnetic surveys, carried out on wide spacing and thus not revealing much detail, indicates considerable strike lengths of iron formation that have only been partly tested in the past, probably because of poor outcrop. On the Moore-Ross Mountain property there are approximately 24 kilometres of iron formation, on the Bob Lake property there are about 20 kilometres, and on the much larger Girard Lake property there are 72 kilometres. Including the 5 kilometres of iron formation on the Red Knob Hill property (which is non-magnetic), this makes a total of 121 kilometres of favourable geology, that needs to be thoroughly tested.
