Lithium is used in glass, ceramics and batteries for electronic equipment and, increasingly, hybrid vehicles. It is the lightest of all metals and is highly reactive at room temperature.
Talison Lithium mines and processes lithium bearing mineral spodumene at Greenbushes near Perth, Western Australia. The company produces a range of lithium concentrates that are distributed to a well-established global customer base, including China.
In September 2010, Talison Lithium merged with Salares Lithium Inc which gave it exposure to prospective lithium brine projects in Chile.

Greenbushes

The Greenbushes Lithium Operations are located directly south and immediately adjacent to the town of Greenbushes, approximately 250km south of Perth and Fremantle, a major container shipping port, and 90km south east of the Port of Bunbury, a major bulk handling port, in the south-west of Western Australia. The Greenbushes Lithium Operations produce a range of lithium mineral products and have a well-established global customer base.

The Greenbushes ore body is a highly mineralised zoned pegmatite with a
strike length of more than 3km. The Greenbushes Lithium Operations Mineral Reserve is unique among known lithium deposits in that it contains approximately 50% spodumene. Click here for more information.

Salares

The 'Salares 7' project consists of 117,904 hectares (117.9 sq km) with 39,404 hectares (394 sq km) of exploration potential solely within actual salares/brine lakes. The company believes this is one of the largest land and pure salare concession packages in the lithium exploration sector. Historic sampling (non NI43-101 compliant) has returned lithium and potassium in all seven salares with grades up to 1,080 ppm lithium and 10,800 ppm potassium.

Our concession package is also unique in that, with our local partner, we control 100% of five salares clustered within 155 km's, resulting in no severed ownership.
