Focus Ventures is a Canadian exploration company dedicated to the discovery and definition of quality mineral resources in Peru and Mexico, arguably two of the most endowed mining regions in the world. By focusing our acquisition strategy on drill-ready properties, we hope to maximize our chances of making a major discovery for shareholders within the shortest possible lead time.
In Mexico, Focus has acquired a large land postion at Santa Cruz in Durango and controls over 20 km of an unexplored silver mining trend where it has already made several exciting discoveries and identified numerous targets that show potential to host both bulk-tonnage high and low grade silver deposits.
In Peru, Focus recently announced the sale of its 25% interest in the Minas Chancas project to Peruvian miner Buenventura for $2.5 million in cash and $1.5 million via a Private Placement in Focus at $0.40 per share. As a result of the transaction Buenaventura is a major shareholder with 9.35% of the outstanding common shares of Focus.
The Machay project, Peru is an early stage, 100%-owned phosphate property where sampling has returned up to 11.4% P2O5 and further evaluation is underway to test the grades below the zone of surface weathering.
Focus Ventures, a Gold Group company, has an exceptional management and Peru-based geological team, led by President David Cass. The company maintains an aggressive acquisitions strategy. The commodities we are exploring for include gold, silver, zinc, copper and phosphates.
Projects
Santa Cruz
Focus is developing a large, new and underexplored silver and gold District in the heart of Mexico's most prospective mining belt. The Company is currently undertaking surface exploration and has defined at least five priority targets that show potential to host bulk-tonnage high and low-grade silver systems.
Location
The Santa Cruz project is located approximately 170 km northwest of the Durango City in the Municipality of Ortaez, at an altitude of 1,500m above sea level. Focus controls a total of 17,780 hectares that covers a northeast-trending mineralized corridor over 20 kilometers long, comprising numerous historic silver and gold mines and occurrences, including the 4,430 hectare El Reventon property recently acquired from International Northair Mines.
The Santa Cruz Project in Durango Mexico is located in the western flank of the Sierra Madre Occidental Volcanic Province, a highly prospective polymetallic belt that hosts several operating and past producing gold and silver mines such as Bacis, San Dimas, Metates, La Cienega and Topia. Historical production is estimated at 655 million ounces (Moz) of silver and 9.33Moz of gold, confirming it as a world-class epithermal mining province. Goldcorp's San Dimas epithermal gold-silver mine is one of the most significant precious metal deposits in Mexico. Fresnillo Plc's Ciénega mine, which produced an estimated 1.2Moz of silver in 2010*, is approximately 50km northwest of Santa Cruz. The Metates deposit (Chesapeake Gold Corp, TSX:CKG) is located 25km northwest of Santa Cruz and is one of the world's largest undeveloped gold-silver resources with 24.5Moz of gold equivalent ounces in the measured and indicated resources, and 3.6Moz in the inferred category.**

Aurora
Executive Summary
Historical drilling in 13 holes has confirmed significant intercepts of porphyry copper-molybdenum mineralization hosted by a series of coarse grained intrusive rocks and country rock slates and sandstones over an area 1,200m x 800m. Drill intercepts include 190m @ 0.57% Cu, 0.008% Mo and 72m @ 0.7% Cu, 0.007% Mo. The mineralization is unconstrained by the drilling to date and is open laterally and at depth. Evidence of increasing grade with depth is observed in several holes. The project could contain a large porphyry copper molybdenum deposit.
The Aurora Porphyry Cu-Mo deposit is located as an outlier to the Yauri-Andahuylas Porphyry Belt in the Department of Cusco between 2,600 - 2,900m above sea level. Travel time to the property takes 3 hours from the City of Cusco on asphalted roads for most of the journey.
Focus has local community approval for the project and an access agreement. A 30 line-kilometer IP and Magnetic Geophysical survey is currently underway by Fugro.
Geology, Mineralization & Alteration
The presence of porphyry Cu-Mo mineralization at Aurora was confirmed by two small drilling campaigns undertaken by different companies in 2001 and 2005. Thirteen holes (3,900m) drilled over an area approximately 1,200m by 800m cut intervals of Cu and Mo mineralization in every hole associated with a variety of polyphase felsic to intermediate feldspar porphyry, quartz-feldspar porphyry and pegmatitic porphyry intrusions that intrude and are partly capped or concealed by hornfels and slates of the Paleozoic (Ordovician 439 - 463 ma) Sandia Formation. The system has been partially unroofed along a narrow northwest-southeast trending ridge that forms a leached cap with slate cover rocks preserved to the west and south and east. The porphyry mineralization is believed to be of Eocene/Oligocene age. Re-Os dating is currently underway at the University of Arizona.
