Klondike Gold Corp. controls key hard rock claims that made the Klondike famous. The gold field is reported to have produced over 20 million ounces of alluvial gold.
Our quest is to find the hard rock source for one of the largest unexplained gold anomalies in the world.
The Lone Star Project is the focus of the company and a new campaign is underway to assess the significant volumes of exploration data available. Recent new gold discoveries in the Yukon have identified specific exploration techniques that can be applied and offer new information about the formation and structure of gold deposits in the region. These discoveries have sparked a great Canadian staking rush and attracted world attention to the area. The most important source of placer gold is Eldorado and Bonanza Creeks and Klondike Gold owns and controls the claims covering these areas.
Exploration in 2012 on the Lone Star will focus on low-grade near surface bulk tonnage targets and also high-grade vein mineralization both of which the company believes are reasonable targets on the property. The Company’s data review has concluded that there has never been systematic exploration of the entire property for these types of targets and to this end intended activities on the Lone Star will include:
- systematic property wide soil geochemistry program with an infill contingency of additional samples for high priority areas
- property wide geological mapping and rock sampling
- trenching and pitting with channel samples where appropriate
Geotechnical drilling and follow up exploration drilling will be a part of the 2012 Lone Star exploration program later in the summer.

The Klondike gold fields have produced an estimated 20 million ounces of placer gold, with very little hard rock production. The Lone Star project is believed to contain the main hard rock source of much of the placer gold, as it covers the headwaters of Eldorado and Bonanza creeks, the richest placer producers.
The Lone Star is an advanced-stage hard-rock exploration project in the legendary Klondike gold-producing region in the Yukon. Since George Carmack's 1896 discovery of gold on Bonanza Creek, alluvial mining for surface deposits of gold continues to the present day.
There are 9 major exploration targets on the expansive 133 km2 property and work between 2004 and 2007 on the Lone Star Project included diamond drilling, percussion drilling, bulk sampling, trenching, IP geophysics, soil geochemistry and detailed geologic mapping.
Property Geology
The Permian Klondike Schist is the main unit which underlies the Klondike gold fields. The Lone Star zone is hosted by pyritic muscovite schist.
Historical Highlights
The Lone Star gold occurrence, otherwise known as the Boulder Lode, was discovered in 1897 following the discovery of placer gold. From 1898 to 1914, the occurrence was explored and developed from a surface open cut and later from underground workings. Between 1912 and 1914, over 7600 tons of material averaging 5.1 grams/ton gold were processed by a stamp mill located in Victoria Gulch. The true head grade was estimated at 7 g/t gold.

Indian River Placer

There are producing placer gold mines both upstream and downstream of this property. The Klondike placer gold district has produced about 20 million ounces since 1896, and continues to produce about 50,000 ounces per year.
The Indian River Placer Project is an advanced-stage placer gold exploration property consisting of 188 placer bench claims. It is located in a wide, shallow valley about 30 km from Dawson City, Yukon in the heart of the Klondike gold-producing region. The gold target forms a wedge that is 300m at the beginning and broadens to a width of over 1500 m.
To date, the mineralized zone extends over a distance of more than 3km and remains open to expansion to the east and south. The property lends itself to environmentally responsible mining methods already employed successfully in the Klondike that engineers have refined to reduce energy requirements and minimize operating costs.
The Indian River placer gold project consists of placer claims along the southern edge of the Klondike placer mining region. Among the advantages of the Indian River property are that it can be brought into production quickly. It lends itself to environmentally responsible mining methods already employed successfully in the Klondike that engineers have refined to reduce energy requirements and minimize operating costs.

Gimlex placer mine is situated about 3 km downstream, and is one of the largest placer mines in the Yukon.
Property Geology
Gold is hosted in old gravels which overlie the Permian Klondike Schist and younger rocks. The Klondike region has not been glaciated, which allows the preservation of rich placer gravels. Depth to bedrock averages about 7 m on the claims, with 1- 2 m of organic-rich loess and peat near surface, overlying gravel. The majority of gold is found in at the bedrock contact.

Clubine
Regional Exploration & Production
Several important past producing camps are located in the area: the Rossland gold-copper camp is located 40 kilometers to the west, the Ymir silver camp, 8 km to the northeast, the Sheep Creek gold camp, 15 km to the east and the Silver King camp, 20 km to the north. The Rossland camp produced 86 million grams (2.76 million ounces) gold and 109 million grams (3.52 million ounces) silver from 1897 to the mid 1940s.
Other Local Exploration
Considerable recent exploration has been done by Sultan Minerals Ltd on their Kena gold property, 15 km to the north.
Localized Geology
Clubine is a vein structure within early Jurassic Rossland Group volcanic and metasedimentary rocks. Numerous middle Jurassic granitic stocks occur in the area and the Bonnington and Nelson batholiths occur 10 to 15 km to the east and north respectively.
Property Geology
The Clubine property contains two mineralized zones, an upper lead-zinc-silver zone characterized by a broad geochemical anomaly and thin, mainly quartz-galena veins and a lower, shear-related quartz-gold-silver-sulphide vein. The gold-silver vein was mined in the 1930s and 1940s, with considerable underground development. It is a steeply east dipping vein structure, typically one meter in width, that has been drilled through a vertical relief of approximately 150 meters and a strike length of 130 meters. It is open to depth and along strike. Vein minerals include quartz, siderite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and galena with minor pyrrhotite, sphalerite and tetrahedrite.
Historical Highlights
Clubine is a past producer, with high grade gold vein ore mined in the 1930s-1940s, with recovery of 239,463 g (7699 oz) silver, 123,293 g (3964 oz) gold and 818 kg copper from 3616 tonnes mined.

Red Point
Regional Exploration & Production
Red Point is dominantly a copper-gold porphyry prospect within Early Jurassic Rossland group metavolcanic rocks that are exposed in a 1.5 to 2.5 km wide embayment in the east-trending Rossland monzonite. Due to regional Eocene tilting, the Red Point area represents a deeper structural level than the main Rossland camp to the west.
Other Local Exploration
Red Point is within a major metallotect in southern British Columbia, with the Rossland gold-silver-copper camp located 5 km to the east. The Rossland camp produced 86 million grams (~ 2.76 million ounces) gold and 109 million grams (~ 3.52 million ounces) silver from 1897 to the mid 1940s.
Exploration is still ongoing in the Rossland camp, with limited production in the mid 1990s. The Teck Resources Ltd. smelter is located in the town of Trail, 3 km to the north.
Property Geology
Disseminated and fracture controlled copper-gold mineralization, interpreted to be an alkalic Cu-Au porphyry system, occurs in the northwestern part of the property. As well, several massive sulphide veins with easterly trends that parallel the trend of similar style mineralization in the Rossland camp, occur on the property. A high-grade Au quartz vein, the Cathedral, also parallels this easterly trend.
Historical Highlights
Limited drilling on the porphyry system, in the 1980s and 1990s, intersected 1.03 g/tonne Au across 103 meters, with several higher grade zones (e.g., 12.2 g/T Au across 3.0 m); there has been no production.
