Apella Resource Inc. (TSX: "APA") (OTCQX: "APAFF") owns the largest and most significant Vanadium assets in North America and perhaps the largest combined resource of Vanadium in the world. On top of this, these Vanadium assets are uniquely coupled with both Iron and titanium credits of equal value.


SGS-Geostat has now delivered to Apella an initial NI 43-101 Resource Calculation for the 100% owned Iron-T Project. The calculation was based on the first 23 holes drilled by Apella in its 1st and 2nd Phases of diamond drilling in 2009 and early 2010. The SGS-Geostat Resource Calculation of 11.63 million tonnes of 0.73 Vanadium Equivalent far exceeded Apella's own in-house expectations of 5-6 million tonnes.


Aside from resources calculated by SGS-Geostat, Apella has an additional 15 drill holes of results from the latest 3rd Phase of drilling carried out in 2010 that will now need to be included in either an updated or new SGS-Geostat Resources Calculation.. Apella is hopeful that the existing 11.6 million tonnes tonnage will be doubled by the latest results.


Apella has also been awarded the majority of the well known Lac Dore Vanadium Deposit in Chibougamau, Quebec. The Lac Dore Vanadium Deposit is recognized as being the world's second largest Vanadium deposit. Historically, the Lac Dore has been reported to host 102 million tonnes of ore, said to contain 5.5 billion pounds of Vanadium. These figures were pre NI 43-101 and Apella plans to confirm these figures once it begins exploration and development at Lac Dore.


Recently dubbed 'the electric metal', Vanadium is an essential element in high-quality steel and the key component of most "next generation" batteries.


With the largest reliable domestic source of mineable Vanadium, Apella expects not only to play a very key role in solving America's energy crisis, but will be doing it in an environmentally friendly manner.

Primary Projects

Iron-T Vanadium Project

The "Bell River Complex" which hosts Apella Iron-T Project was discovered by Noranda Inc. in 1997, and their work confirmed the presence of Vanadium, Titanium, and Iron mineralization over a distance of more than 15 Km. An earlier airborne was completed by Abitibi Geophysics, who, from the anomalies they identified estimated at least 250 Million Tonnes of highly enriched mineralization lie below. If proven, this would make the Iron-T the largest vanadium deposit in the world, exceeding the renowned Bushveld complex in South Africa presently the world's leading source of Vanadium. In 2008, Apella acquired all of the claims covering these Bell River Complex anomalies from the highly acclaimed Vanadium mineralogist named Mehmet Taner and his partners. Apella appropriately renamed the asset The Iron-T Vanadium Project after the rich contents of Iron, Titanium and Vanadium it hosted. The 100% owned Iron-T deposit is located in central Quebec, Canada, and consists of 134 claims straddling the 15.5 km of mineralized anomalies, east to west.

Apella has now completed 3 drill campaigns over only a small portion of the vanadium rich Iron-T Project. Based on exceptionally positive results to date Apella has now commenced an extensive and aggressive program of ground geophysics to detail drill targets along the entire 15.5km strike-length, east to west. It is anticipated that the Iron-T will contain multiple Vanadium-Iron-Titanium deposits totaling 400 to 500 million tonnes of mineralization once fully exploited. As expected, the Apella drill programs have all successfully intersected mineable grades and intersected exceptional widths of Vanadium-Iron-Titanium rich magnetite.

A four stage exploration/development program consisting of 119 infill drill holes with a budget of $5.7Million has now been recommended by Dr. Christian Derosier, chief geologist for the Iron-T Project. The program would to take the Iron-T to early prefeasibility. The drill targets for these 119 drill holes have been identified and are now drill ready. (see map below)



Apella's primary strategy is to develop the magnetite rich Iron-T Vanadium-Iron-Titanium Project, ideally situated in the Matagami Camp, to feasibility. Next Apella would leverage the general infrastructure to facilitate the building of processing facilities within an acceptable CAPEX, competitive for developing Vanadium-Iron-Titanium rich magnetite deposits.

Lac Dore Vanadium Project

Apella initially staked the Lac Dore Deposit in August 2007 (non NI 43-101 feasibility report produced in 2002 by SNC Lavelin for previous owner) in a staking rush against the Quebec government exploration development arm known as SOQUEM Inc.


The feasibility study completed by SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. in 2002 drew a parallel or comparison between the source of ore in the Bushveld of world's largest supplier of vanadium, Highveld in South Africa which supplies approx 40% of world supply, and Lac Dore. Grades of concentrate from the Bushveld were comparable at 1.5 % to 1.7 % for Highveld and 1.45% to 1.6% for Lac Dore. The marked difference: the Bushveld resource has a thickness of only 5 feet stretching over several hundred km whereas the resource at the Lac Dore is nice and compact at 330 feet to 660 feet and easily open pitable at a low cost.


As a result, the haul distance reported to the Bushveld mine mill is up to 110 km and rising as the mineralization is depleted; whereas the distance to the Lac Dore mine mill would be a maximum of 2 km from the open pit. Electricity was rated as expensive in Bushveld, but cheap and abundant at Lac Dore. Fresh water not abundant or easily replenishible at Bushveld, in fact is was expensive in Bushveld; whereas in comparison it is both cheap and abundant at Lac Dore. Finally, the 2002 SNC Lavelin study showed the cost of production was cheaper for Lac Dore at $1.40 to $1.70 per lb. than for the Bushveld which was $1.50-$2.00 per lb.

Historically South Africa which hosts the Bushveld competing deposits consistently experiences severe and debilitating shortages of electricity which will be a significant problem Highveld and the Bushveld mines will have for years ahead. China now represents approx. 40% of the global production of Vanadium and consumes 50%. China has recently placed a moratorium on the export of Vanadium. North America is currently in a very vulnerable position in that it currently imports 98% of its vanadium needs. It produces a small percentage as a byproduct.



Since staking the Lac Dore in 2007 Apella has been awarded the majority of the claims covering the deposit and is confident it will be awarded upwards of 95% of the ground covering 21-claim Lac Dore Deposit in late 2010 or early 2011.

Apella also owns a 100% interest in the key claims covering the Northeastern extension of the Lac Dore. Apella discovered enriched mineralization at surface after pressure washing an minimal amount of overburden which consisted entirely of soil and moss. The newly uncovered zones on the northern extension ran over 1.5 km and prompted an Apella drilling campaign in 2009. This Apella drilling intersected mineable grades of Vanadium-Iron-Titanium rich magnetite consistent with Lac Dore deposit itself. Pictures of this discovery are below.

On September 23, 2010, Apella was finally able to announce that it defeated staker Rejean Picard and SOQUEM Inc. in their Declaration of Intervention. Apella is now free to continue the Appeal process regarding Apella's entitlement to the Lac Dore claims not already awarded to Apella.
