Ventana Gold Corp (VEN:TSX) has made a high grade gold discovery at their 185 hectare La Bodega Property in the California-Vetas Gold District of Colombia. Immediately adjacent to Greystar Resources’ (GSL:TSX) 11m oz. Angostura Deposit, a 105 hole drill program has been completed at La Bodega. After an initial discovery hole of 106.5m of 7.81 g/t Au, the company has extended the deposit through the “La Mascota Zone” by 725m at strike, highlighted by 33m of 16 g/t Au, 12m of 34 g/t Au, and 57m of 8 g/t Au. Many of the step out drill results have bottomed out while still in mineralization, highlighted by 14 g/t Au at a depth of 257m. As a result, a drill rig capable of drilling 1300m has been added to the property, that, as CEO Richard Warke has said, will allow the company to accelerate their work program and further expand the significant mineralization encountered at La Mascota.
On Mar. 30, 2009, it was announced that Lumina Capital LP, an entity held principally by Vancouver mining entrepreneur, Ross Beaty. participated in a $6M private placement, bringing his total interest in Ventana to 12.2% on a fully diluted basis.
